PEACEFUL USES OF ATOMIC ENERGY

 Peaceful nuclear technology has been powering people’s lives since the dawn of the nuclear age more than half a century ago. The Atomic Energy is used in the country for many peaceful applications in the areas of power generation, healthcare, agriculture, food preservation, industry and research.  Non-Proliferation Treaty or NPT, promote cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

1. As Nuclear medicine and radiology are the whole of medical techniques that involve radiation or radioactivity to diagnose, treat and prevent disease. Today, about one-third of all procedures used in modern hospitals involve radiation or radioactivity. 

2. Nuclear energy uses in industry as to generate electricity, to Ensuring Product Quality, to Enhancing Material Quality, in Electrostatic control, in Radioactive tracers, in Oil and Gas Exploration. 

3. Nuclear technology uses radiation (nuclear energy) to improve the productivity of the entire food chain in a substantial manner. Such as in Water Use and Soil Management, Pest Control, Animal Health and Productivity and Food Safety etc.

4. The nuclear enrgy also use in art and science applications to Understanding our Past through carbon dating, Creating Beauty, Preserving Art and History.


Conclusion:

In pursuit of the peaceful uses of Atomic Energy, power generation based on nuclear energy assumes first and foremost place and India has achieved many milestones in this area. And Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), the IAEA conducts on-site inspections to ensure that nuclear materials are used only used for peaceful purposes.
